Along with St. Bernard Parish Animal Shelter, we can assist you in having your pet spayed or neutered at a greatly reduced rate (the fees may be waived for qualified residents). Remember: if you adopt one, you save one (and our hearts dance with each adoption), but if you SPAY one, you can save dozens, maybe HUNDREDS!
To break the chain of child/spouse abuse, we supply humane educational materials for local elementary classrooms.
Because we believe that pets not only prolong human life, but they add to the quality of life, we pay part or all of the costs of pet adoptions to resident senior citizens. This also gives adult pets a second chance at life.

Friends of the Animal Shelter is a non-profit 501 (c)(3), non-politcal, totally volunteer organization formed to provide auxiliary support for the award winning
St. Bernard Parish Animal Shelter.
All funds raised are used to make life a
little easier for all the unwanted, abandoned and abused animals in our own Parish; no administrative costs are ever deducted. All donations are fully tax deductable, as allowed by law. Every project that our Shelter and its Friends develops and funds is for the purpose of increasing adoptions and reducing the overall numbers of animals coming into our shelter by addressing the root causes of pet homelessness. At Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Bernard, we don't just talk about the problem of pet overpopulation, we are actually doing something about it. Our goal is to insure that every pet born in our parish has a permanent, responsible home for the pet's entire lifetime. Along with St. Bernard Parish Animal Shelter, we have made measurable, substantial progress toward this goal by addressing the ROOT CAUSES of the pet overpopulation problem. We will not give up until our shelter achieves a ZERO euthanasia rate for every healthy, adoptable dog and cat in their care. Warehousing animals will not work. Less pets born and more adoptions will.
