This editorial cartoon may seem humorous, but what it represents is no laughing matter. Every single day animals are put to sleep in our shelter. Even though the majority may not be considered adoptable to start with (sick, injured, agressive, unweaned), there are far too many healthy, young ones that are sacrificed simply because we don't have the room to house them. St. Bernard Parish Government has taken the first steps - property has been purchased and some funding has been secured. Now it is up to the community to insure that a bigger, better shelter is built. Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Bernard has taken up the challenge. Because the pets cannot ask for help themselves, we now are asking you for your help.
